Camporee Patch Contest

Posted by gtaylor on Jan 11 2020 - 11:47pm

Last Roundtable's youth patch design activity didn’t go as planned.  We had just 1 youth show up. So we will run our contest as before.  Submissions due at February RT.  The theme should involve 100 years.  You should try and expand it to be something like “The Next 100 Years”, “100 Years of Camping”, “A Century of Fun”, etc.

Critical Help is Needed From Our El Camino Real Community

Last week Alaina Vallome of Troop 774 in Laguna Woods was diagnosed with leukemia.  She was admitted into the hospital immediately to begin chemotherapy.  Alaina is a very special kid with a passion for BSA Scouts.  It would be incredible if our local Scouting community could help her and her family through this difficult time.

On the 2019 Day of Service at El Camino Real

November is a month whereby all of us take a moment to be thankful for all our blessings.   It was also a good way to begin the Month as the Scouting Community stepped up yet again to make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate amongst us.    Here in South County, Some 1000 Pounds of Food were raised in support of the Second Harvest Food Bank of Orange County.    Per Second Harvest, this equated to some 900 meals for all who were not able to have a meal--because on a monthly basis, some 300,000 of our fellow residents here in Orange County go hungry.

Thank you to all the Units who joined this noble cause and all who served at the Collection site at Scout Hut in San Juan Capistrano on November 2.   Council has provided guidance to our District Commissioner that Commemorative Patches are available for a nominal purchase at the Council Scout Shops.

Let's plan on a vibrant campaign next year to build upon the achivement done here.

Scouting for food is an on-going effort for ECR.  Your cans of food are always welcome at Roundtable.  If you want to hold your own Scouting for Food driving anytime during the year or at community event ( e.g. sports team, etc ), I've enclosed a flyer that you can customize.  Thanks to Pack 700 for creating this flyer.
