Support Scouts of Ukraine

Posted by garyibanez on May 6 2022 - 9:04am

This is a moment our Scouting community can make a difference.

From the Scout.org website:  "In response to the unfolding humanitarian crisis resulting from the war in Ukraine, hundreds of Scout volunteers are mobilizing to help meet overwhelming short-term and long-term needs in Ukraine and neighboring countries. They need your support to continue their work. The World Organization of the Scout Movement is coordinating emergency relief efforts together with the World Scout Foundation and in close collaboration with our  Eurasian and European Scouting Regions and the National Organization of Scouts of Ukraine (NOSU) to respond to the unfolding humanitarian crisis resulting from the war in Ukraine."

These knot are available for a $3 donation.  Entire proceeds will be donated to the Scout.org site for the Scouts of Ukraine. The Scouting.org's Ukrainian Scouts Humanitarian Response Project ends mid May, so let's aim for the in person May 12 Roundtable at Corpus Christ (Aliso Viejo) to wrap up our effort.

Units may purchase ($3 per knot) a limited quantity for their units, family and friends (click this to RSVP the quantity). Special thanks to James Ashizasa and Troop 12 for their leadership in this effort.

Support The SJC Rotary and The Scout Hut

Posted by garyibanez on Mar 5 2022 - 11:37pm

We all know and appreciate The Scout Hut which has been generously available to host our scouting events. Please note the following service opportunities to support the SJC Rotary from our friend Dan Priest:

1. The annual Swallows Day Pancake Breakfast at the Hut, on the date of the Swallow’s Day parade (Saturday March 12, 2022) 6 am to 11 am (RSVP: https://www.ecrbsa.com/node/4692

2. The annual car show which was just held last Saturday. Need help 5 am to 3 pm (Keep an eye out for the next one!)

3. Very infrequently, help with Hut maintenance. Yard cleanup etc.

ALL Youth Scouts are welcome to help for service hours but realistically we need adults, or BIG Scouts, mainly. The Rotary Club absolutely needs volunteers, especially those under 60 years old which most of our Rotarians are not.

Thanks for all of your help and your service to the future of our kids.

Please contact Gary Ibanez or Tom Sales for more information!
