IOLS Course Aug 8

The INTRODUCTION to OUTDOOR LEADER SKILLS (IOLS) course provides the opportunity for registered adults to learn the basic outdoor Scout skills required to be a leader in a Webelos den, Boy Scout troop or Varsity team. 

IOLS is conducted in a outdoor format, is open to all registered adults, and any Scouter may attend from any district and any council.

Trainer's EDGE Course Aug 22

The Trainer’s EDGE replaces the Trainer Development Conference (BSA 500) as the required train‐the‐ trainer course for Wood Badge and NYLT staffs.  The purpose of the Trainer’s EDGE course is to provide and help develop the platform skills of a trainer. It is meant to supplement the practice offered through Wood Badge and NYLT staff development, with a focus on the participant, while raising the level of skill a trainer brings to the staff experience. Only practice can polish these skills, but this course is intended to “train the trainer” on behaviors and resources while offering hands‐on experience in methods and media.

Take a Philmont Adventure This Summer!

There are still 6 spots available for a Philmont 7 day trek.
 
Details:  Trek dates are 8/13/15-8/20/15. Travel plan would be Amtrak to Raton, NM and the Philmont bus from Raton to Philmont, leaving on the late afternoon of 8/11 with an extra night in camp on 8/12 and the actual trek beginning 8/13, departing on the morning of 8/20 aboard the Philmont bus to Raton and returning via Amtrak, arriving on 8/21. Assigned Itinerary is attached. These $499 spots are available at almost no cost to Scouts of proper age, and meet the Philmont requirements. Transportation costs for round trip is about $250, transportation costs will be incurred by Scouts and financing is available for transportation.

Camperall 2015

When:  October 16-18

Where: Caspers Regional Park

Camperall is scheduled for October 16-18 at Caspers Regional Park. In addition to advancement, we will be adding a short hike through beautiful Caspers park.   Please add this wonderful event to our schedule - more details to come.
