Scouting for Food - Nov 7

Posted on Oct 5 2015 - 2:00pm
November 7 is Scouting for Food, an annual food drive with the Girl Scouts of Orange County for the benefit of Second Harvest Food Bank.  There is a need for every unit to participate, and room for any unit to do something that is important to our community.
          • Neighborhood collections.  Every cub scout, or scout of any age can collect non-perishable donations from their neighbors.
          • Area collections.  A troop or large cub pack could claim an area, distribute flyers (request from nhojcarruth@gmail.com) during the week of November 1 and then return on the morning of November 7 and bring everything to the collection truck that will be in the parking lot of the LDS Church at 310Avenida Vista Montana (the same site as Roundtable) between 9 AM and 3 PM.
          • School, church, and business collections.  Contact nhojcarruth@gmail.com and I can help arrange collection barrels during the week of November 1 which can be brought to the collection truck on Saturday, November 7.
          • We will have the opportunity to solicit donations from shoppers at the Commissary on the base and in front of the Smart and Final in Capo Beach.  I still need cub scouts for the Smart and Final location.
This is only once a year and it is a great way to serve our community as we approach Thanksgiving.  Thanks and contact me for information.
